Dr Mustafa Coban

Dr Mustafa Coban has been leading the online survey “Work and Life in Germany” (IAB-OPAL) since 2023 as part of the project “High frequency person panel: Development study”. From 2019 to 2022, he worked on the panel survey “Quality of Life and Participation” to evaluate the Participation Opportunities Act within module 3a “Analysis of the effects of subsidised employment according to Sections 16e and 16i SGB II regarding employability and social participation”. In 2024, he was appointed to the methodological advisory board of the “Health in Germany” panel conducted by the Robert Koch-Institute.

Dr. Mustafa Coban completed his diploma in Economics (Dipl.-Volkswirt) at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg in 2011. From 2011 to 2018, he was a research associate at the Chair of Economic Order and Social Policy at the University of Würzburg. During this time, he earned his doctorate with the dissertation “Contributions to the Empirics of Immigration, Redistribution, and Social Mobility.” Since March 2019, he has been a research associate at the IAB. His research focuses on survey methodology, long-term unemployment, migration, social mobility, and social inequality.
