Asylum seekers whose asylum procedures are not yet completed are granted a permit of residence by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). It entitles them to live and, under certain conditions, to work in Germany until the asylum procedure is completed, i.e. until their application for asylum is decided on.
